Hythe Under 11's come unstuck against a very well drilled Totton & Eling side on Sunday. Going down by 33 runs despite the great efforts of Sam Fenton who scored 15. Earlier Hythe had done well in the field to reduce T&E to 269 for 3 which earned praise from the T&E Coach.

Finally some colts cricket as the Under 11's entertained Totton & Eling. The vistors won the toss and elected to field first.

Hythe bowled and fielded well reducing T&E to just 269 for 3 after a splendid knock of 25 from E.Taylor. Fraser Smith took 2-10 off 2 overs for Hythe whilst Sam Fenton's 3 overs went for just 1-14. Cameron Stewart took a good catch off Fenton.

270 to win - Hythe had to bat well and with discipline. Someone forgot to tell the first pair as Tom Ferrier (-6) & Tom Jones (+3) lost their wickets 3 times. Hythe 206 for 3 after 4.

Second pairing Will Ladbury (+5) & Zac Crocker (-7) added another 8 runs despite Crocker being out twice. Hythe's third partnership of Cameron Stewart (-5) & Daniel Duell (-5) struggled aginst some tidy T& E bowling - Hythe going backwards 211 for 7 after 12 overs.

With the game basically over there was no way the Hythe 4th pair were going to get 59 for victory but they gave it a real go and Sam Sam Fenton (+15) & Fraser Smith (-1) added a further 25 to give some respectability to the scorline. Hythe ending 236 for 8.

Under 11 manager Stewart Smith summed it up afterwards when he said ' The basic story of the game was that we were outclassed by a superb batting display by E Taylor, who scored a net 25 (and we were lucky to get away with that) and we were out done by ourselves, carelessly giving away too many silly wickets'.
