Without several key players and losing skipper Alex Nicholas half way through for a rep game - a young Hythe Under 15's put in a determined performance before going down to Pylewell Park on Sunday.
Hythe batted first and started well as Sam Kelly & Lewie Fay put on 30 for the first wicket in only 5.4 overs. From then on Hythe lost wickets in quick succession and were shot out for 52 in just 12.2 overs. Jeff Wilkins took 4-7 off 3 overs whilst Joe Edmunds took 4-13 off 3.2 overs.
With little to defend the young Green Caps fought back well - Alex Nicholas had Scriven judged LBW in only the 3rd over and Sam Long bowled D.Woolgar for 4in the 4th. Wides were a problem and Hythe bowled 13 in total. By 6 overs Pylewell had moved onto 25 for 2. Nicholas had to leave in the 7th over just to miss Sam Kelly take the third Pylewell wicket - bowling O'Brien for 3.
Kelly's next over went for 8 but PP were pegged back once again by a excellent Ben Fenton maiden. Kelly run out Smith in the next over with PP now on 45 for 4. Fenton then claimed the wicket of Wright in the 13th over but PP were almost home.
Pylewell Park winning by 5 wickets but a good display by the 9 Hythe men. Fenton finishing with 3 overs 1-4
