Credit to both sides for doing their best to play open rugby on a very heavy pitch. We certainly deserved our "revenge" and now it's up to us to keep the commitment going and not to have any slip-ups.
Very scrappy game dut to the conditions but a win is a win! Gav and Luke are starting to make a cracking centre pairing and was good to see them talking none stop and marshalling others around them; Jonny Boatman had another cracking game and for me he is player of the season, again leading from the front!
The full back definitely stops. I would have hoped that if the whistle hadn't gone Watson would have sent Cheslin in for the try as he was in lots of space. Fortunately, it didn't matter in the end.
As another talking point I thought we mioght have been awarded a penlatytry for that high tackle on Gareth Foreman which undoubtedly prevented a score.

Can't see anything wrong with it. See third and fourth paragraph below.
"One of the infringements referees have clamped down on in the past few years has been obstruction in the maul, or "truck and trailer" as it has been called.
This is when a player acts as a screen, blocking tacklers from reaching the ball carrier.
However players can circumvent this law if two or more team-mates bind around the ball together and move forwards.
As long as the tackler has a fair opportunity to contest the ball, the referee will allow the maul to continue. "
just under the 5th paragraph u said a fair contest to get to the ball... from what i see the "ball carrier" is behind the "binding player" so the tackling player is unable to reach the "ball carrier" due to the "binding"(obstructing) player. should have been a straight penalty in my eyes.
definately should have been a penalty try for the high tackle on foreman as it would have been a certain try. The reason it wasn't given is probably because when the play came back to that side of the pitch, the ref noticed there was a big punch up going on!
Well done for all teams last saturday. reckon from their recent results Wheatley Hills will be a real challenge and should we that should set us up for triumphant run in to the end of the season. Should think it is now our most important game of the season. 100 points for and none against is really impressive over their last to matches and indicates they re on top of their form in attack and defense. Good luck for saturday c'mon WEST!!!!
I heard that Team Northumbria sent a third team down there cos they had an important University game coming up. So maybe not as good as it looks. Don't forget we beat Old Brods 36-0
